Egyptian Battles
Pelusium I
The Battle of Pelusium I was fought in 525 BC in Delta during the Late Period era, a land engagement against Persians. It ended in defeat for the Egyptian side.
Historical Note
Cambyses of Persia bought his way through. Herodotus says he drove cats and ibises ahead of his lines, knowing the Egyptians would not shoot them. Psamtik III's army broke; the boy-pharaoh was captured and Egypt fell to the Achaemenids for two centuries.
