Egyptian Battles
Eltekeh
The Battle of Eltekeh was fought in 701 BC in Levant during the Third Intermediate era, a land engagement against Assyrians. It ended in defeat for the Egyptian side.
Historical Note
Taharqa marched north to aid Hezekiah's revolt against Sennacherib. The armies met near the Philistine coast; the Assyrian record claims victory, Isaiah implies the Assyrians turned back, and both records are silent on the body count. Egypt's empire abroad never recovered.
