Egyptian Battles
Carchemish
The Battle of Carchemish was fought in 605 BC in Levant during the Late Period era, a land engagement against Babylonians. It ended in defeat for the Egyptian side.
Historical Note
Necho II's army held the Euphrates at Carchemish until Nebuchadnezzar struck. The Egyptians broke and fled; Nebuchadnezzar pursued them to the Egyptian border. After Carchemish, Egypt was a Mediterranean power no longer.
