Vulcan

Faber Deorum — Forger of Thunderbolts

Vulcan is a Roman god of fire, associated with the realm of olympus. Vulcan belongs to the olympian generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Hephaestus in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the hammer.

Historical Note

The Vulcanalia festival in August involved throwing live fish into fire as a substitute for human souls. His forge was believed to lie beneath Mount Etna.
