Mars

Pater Militum — Father of Warriors

Mars is a Roman god of war, associated with the realm of olympus. Mars belongs to the olympian generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Ares in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the spear.

Historical Note

Mars was second only to Jupiter in Roman veneration. The month of March bears his name — the original first month of the Roman year, when campaigns began.
