First Great Kushan

Vima Kadphises was an Indian emperor active in the 1st c. AD during the Kushan period from the state of Kushan. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

First Kushan to call himself 'Maharajadhiraja' on his coinage, struck in gold to Roman weight standards. Conquered the Indus valley, opened formal commerce with Han China, and prepared the empire his son Kanishka would crown.
