Bharata was an Indian king active in the 14th c. BC during the Vedic Age period from the state of Bharata. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Son of King Dushyanta and Shakuntala. So great a sovereign that the subcontinent took its true name — Bharatavarsha — from him. He passed the crown to a worthy stranger rather than an unworthy son.
