Karur

The Battle of Karur was fought in 150 AD in South India during the Kushan era, a land engagement against Cheras. It ended in victory for the Indian side.

Historical Note

Karikala Chola broke the Chera army at Karur on the Kaveri. The defeated Chera king died, the Tamil Sangam poets sang — 'from shame, facing the wall'.
