Indian Battles
Venni
The Battle of Venni was fought in 190 AD in South India during the Kushan era, a land engagement against Chera-Pandya. It ended in victory for the Indian side.
Historical Note
Karikala faced an alliance of eleven kings — the Cheras, the Pandyas, and nine lesser Velirs — at Venni. The Chera king took a wound in the back fleeing; his bards composed a poem to that wound and then he fasted to death.
