Goddess of Knowledge and the Veena
Saraswati is an Indian goddess of wisdom, associated with the realm of heaven. Saraswati belongs to the first generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Minerva in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the veena.
Historical Note
Consort of Brahma; goddess of speech, music, and the rivers of memory. Plays the veena, rides a swan, and is worshipped by every student in India before every examination. Patroness of Panini and Kalidasa alike.
