Amenhotep III was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 14th c. BC during the New Kingdom period from the state of 18th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Inherited an empire at peace and made it dazzle. Built Luxor Temple, the Colossi of Memnon, and a court so cosmopolitan that the Amarna letters preserve his diplomatic correspondence with every king of the Bronze Age.
