Hatshepsut was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 15th c. BC during the New Kingdom period from the state of 18th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Stepmother to Thutmose III who ruled as senior pharaoh for twenty-two years. Dressed as a king, wore the false beard, opened the trade route to Punt, and built Deir el-Bahari. Thutmose erased her name from every monument after her death.
