Shennong
the Divine Farmer
Shennong is a Chinese god of harvest, associated with the realm of earth. Shennong belongs to the primordial generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Demeter in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the plow.
Historical Note
Personally tasted hundreds of herbs to learn which were poison and which medicine. Founded Chinese agriculture and herbalism. Eventually died from a herb he could not detoxify in time.
