Gonggong

the Water Demon

Gonggong is a Chinese god of sea, associated with the realm of sea. Gonggong belongs to the first generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Poseidon in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the black dragon.

Historical Note

Black-bodied water demon with red hair. Lost a struggle for the throne of heaven and rammed Mt. Buzhou in rage, knocking the sky askew. Why China's rivers flow southeast.
