Chinese Battles

Gaixia

The Battle of Gaixia was fought in 202 BC in Central Plains during the Chu-Han era, a land engagement against Chu. It ended in victory for the Chinese side.

Historical Note

Han Xin trapped Xiang Yu at Gaixia. Hearing Chu folk songs from the Han camp at night, Xiang Yu believed his homeland had fallen. He sang a farewell to his consort Yu, charged out, and died at the Wu River.
