Chinese Battles

Fancheng

The Battle of Fancheng was fought in 219 AD in Yangtze during the Three Kingdoms era, a siege engagement against Cao Wei. It ended in defeat for the Chinese side.

Historical Note

Guan Yu drowned a Wei relief force in monsoon floods and seemed about to take the city — until Lü Meng of Wu took his rear by surprise. Cut off from Shu, Guan Yu was captured and beheaded weeks later at Maicheng.
