Cupid

Deus Amoris — Archer of Desire

Cupid is a Roman god of love, associated with the realm of earth. Cupid belongs to the minor generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Eros in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the bow & arrow.

Historical Note

Cupid was often portrayed as mischievous rather than benevolent — his random arrows caused mortals to fall in love hopelessly. His mother Venus occasionally used him as a weapon.
