Founder of Magadha
Bimbisara was an Indian king active in the 6th c. BC during the Mahajanapada period from the state of Magadha. Was assassinated.
Historical Note
Built Magadha into the first great Indian kingdom by marriage alliances and conquest. A patron of both Buddha and Mahavira. His son Ajatashatru imprisoned him and starved him to death.
