Egyptian Pharaohs
Tantamani
Last of the Black Pharaohs
Tantamani was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 7th c. BC during the Third Intermediate period from the state of 25th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Last Kushite to wear the double crown. Briefly retook Memphis from the Assyrians, only to be driven out by Ashurbanipal, who sacked Thebes itself in 663 BC — a catastrophe the prophet Nahum still cites a generation later as a warning to Nineveh.
