Psamtik III

Last of the Saites

Psamtik III was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 6th c. BC during the Late Period period from the state of 26th Dynasty. Was executed.

Historical Note

Six months on the throne when Cambyses of Persia invaded. Lost the kingdom at Pelusium in 525 BC. Treated honourably at first, but caught plotting revolt — Herodotus says he was forced to drink bull's blood, which killed him on the spot.
