Apries was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 6th c. BC during the Late Period period from the state of 26th Dynasty. Was killed in battle.
Historical Note
Saite pharaoh who lost a war against Cyrene with such heavy losses that his own army mutinied. Replaced by his general Amasis, he raised a Babylonian army to retake the throne, lost again, and was strangled by his own soldiers.
