Ptolemy II Philadelphus was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 3rd c. BC during the Ptolemaic period from the state of Ptolemaic. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

Married his own sister Arsinoë — the first pharaonic incest in the Ptolemaic line — and made Alexandria the cultural capital of the world. Funded the Septuagint translation of the Hebrew Bible, the Pharos lighthouse, and the Mouseion of Alexandria.
