Founder of the 5th Dynasty
Userkaf was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 25th c. BC during the Old Kingdom period from the state of 5th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Founded the 5th Dynasty and built the first solar temple at Abusir — the cult of Ra now eclipsing the cult of the king. His pyramid at Saqqara is modest; his colossal head, found at the temple, is the oldest over-life-size royal sculpture in Egyptian art.
