Ptolemy I Soter was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 3rd c. BC during the Ptolemaic period from the state of Ptolemaic. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

Macedonian general of Alexander's bodyguard. Seized Egypt at the partition of Babylon, kidnapped Alexander's body en route to Macedonia, and ruled for forty years as the first Greek pharaoh. Founded the Library of Alexandria and the dynasty that ended with Cleopatra.
