Egyptian Pharaohs
Amenemhat III
Master of the Faiyum
Amenemhat III was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 19th c. BC during the Middle Kingdom period from the state of 12th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Tamed the Faiyum into Egypt's breadbasket with canals and a sluice that the Greeks called the Labyrinth. His Hawara pyramid is mostly mud-brick today; in antiquity, Herodotus said it surpassed even the Pyramids.
