Sharuhen

The Battle of Sharuhen was fought in 1535 BC in Levant during the New Kingdom era, a siege engagement against Hyksos. It ended in victory for the Egyptian side.

Historical Note

After taking Avaris, Ahmose I chased the Hyksos remnant across Sinai to Sharuhen in Canaan and besieged the fortress three years until it fell. The first Egyptian campaign in Asia for half a millennium; the New Kingdom was now an Asian power.
