Egyptian Battles
Alexandria
The Battle of Alexandria was fought in 30 BC in Delta during the Ptolemaic era, a siege engagement against Rome. It ended in defeat for the Egyptian side.
Historical Note
A year after Actium, Octavian closed in on Alexandria. Antony's last cavalry charge succeeded; his last infantry charge failed. Cleopatra shut herself in her mausoleum; Antony fell on his sword. She followed with the asp eleven days later. Egypt became a province.
