Huo Guang

the Kingmaker Regent

Huo Guang was a Chinese regent active in the 1st c. BC during the Western Han period from the state of Han. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

Younger brother of Huo Qubing. As regent he deposed an emperor in twenty-seven days and enthroned another. Held supreme power for two decades. His widow's plot to poison the new empress destroyed the Huo clan within months of his death.
