Wei Qing

Hammer of the Xiongnu

Wei Qing was a Chinese general active in the 2nd c. BC during the Western Han period from the state of Han. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

Slave-born brother-in-law to Emperor Wu. Led seven campaigns into the steppe against the Xiongnu without a single defeat. The first Han general to plant the dynasty's banners north of the Gobi.
