Chinese Rulers
Emperor Wen of Han
the Frugal
Emperor Wen of Han was a Chinese emperor active in the 2nd c. BC during the Western Han period from the state of Han. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Reigned 23 years with such restraint that his name became a byword for benevolent rule. Refused to expand his palaces — 'a hundred families' wealth' was too dear, he said.
