Chinese Battles

Yanling

The Battle of Yanling was fought in 575 BC in Central Plains during the Spring & Autumn era, a land engagement against Chu. It ended in victory for the Chinese side.

Historical Note

Jin under Duke Li shattered Chu when its king Gong of Chu was struck in the eye by an arrow. Without him the Chu army broke. Confucius cited Yanling as the moment Jin's hegemony returned.
