Chinese Battles

Yan Ying

The Battle of Yan Ying was fought in 278 BC in Yangtze during the Warring States era, a siege engagement against Chu. It ended in victory for the Chinese side.

Historical Note

Bai Qi sacked Ying, the Chu capital. The poet-minister Qu Yuan drowned himself in the Miluo River when he heard — dragon-boat races still commemorate the search for his body.
