Wuzhang Plains

The Battle of Wuzhang Plains was fought in 234 AD in Wei Valley during the Three Kingdoms era, a land engagement against Cao Wei. It ended in defeat for the Chinese side.

Historical Note

Zhuge Liang's fifth northern expedition. He fell ill and died facing Sima Yi across the plain. His army withdrew in such good order that even Sima Yi muttered: 'A genius — alive or dead.'
