Chinese Battles

Maling

The Battle of Maling was fought in 341 BC in Central Plains during the Warring States era, a ambush engagement against Wei. It ended in victory for the Chinese side.

Historical Note

Sun Bin lured Pang Juan, his old enemy, into a defile by faking mass desertion. A note carved into a tree read: 'Pang Juan dies under this tree.' He read it; the archers fired.
