Scipio Africanus was a statesman of the Roman Republic active in the 3rd c. BC originally from Italia. Held power for 8 years and died: natural (exiled).
Historical Note
Conquered Spain and defeated Hannibal at Zama (202 BC), ending the Second Punic War. Later accused of corruption, he retired to Liternum and refused burial in ungrateful Rome.
