Numa Pompilius was a king of Rome active in the 7th c. BC originally from Sabinum. Held power for 43 years and died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Sabine philosopher-king who created Rome's religious institutions, the calendar, the Vestal Virgins, and the office of Pontifex Maximus. Reigned 43 years without a single war.
