Indian Battles
Mathura
The Battle of Mathura was fought in 180 BC in Ganges Valley during the Post-Maurya era, a land engagement against Indo-Greek. It ended in defeat for the Indian side.
Historical Note
The Indo-Greek king Demetrius pushed across the Indus and as far as Mathura on the Yamuna. The Mauryas were too weak to resist; the Yavanas held the western Ganges plain for the first time since Alexander.
