Epaminondas was a Greek strategos active in the 4th c. BC during the Classical period based in Thebes. Was killed in battle.

Historical Note

Invented the oblique attack and the deep phalanx to shatter the Spartan myth at Leuctra. Killed at Mantinea at the moment of his greatest victory.
