Aristides

the Just

Aristides was a Greek archon active in the 5th c. BC during the Classical period based in Athens. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

Famously incorruptible. According to legend, asked by an illiterate citizen to inscribe his own name on the ostracism shard against him — and did so without complaint.
