Egyptian Pharaohs
Ptolemy IV
Philopator the Decadent
Ptolemy IV was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 3rd c. BC during the Ptolemaic period from the state of Ptolemaic. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Won at Raphia (217 BC) by arming Egyptian native troops for the first time — and so unlocked a century of native revolts. Murdered his mother, brother, and uncle; gave the kingdom over to favourites and died young, beginning the Ptolemaic decline.
