Egyptian Mythology
Nut
the Sky-Vaulted Goddess
Nut is an Egyptian goddess of sky, associated with the realm of heaven. Nut belongs to the primordial generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Caelus in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the star-body.
Historical Note
Goddess of the night sky, whose star-spangled body arches over the earth. Each evening she swallows the sun; each morning she gives birth to it again. Stretched eternally between her father Shu and her husband Geb, whom she may not touch.
