Egyptian Battles
Sais Civil War
The Battle of Sais Civil War was fought in 570 BC in Delta during the Late Period era, a land engagement against Apries. It ended in victory for the Egyptian side.
Historical Note
Apries marched with a Greek mercenary army to retake Egypt from his usurping general Amasis. The two armies met near Sais; the native Egyptians backed Amasis. Apries was captured, paraded, and strangled. Amasis ruled for forty-four prosperous years.
