Greek Battles

Amphipolis

The Battle of Amphipolis was fought in 422 BC in Macedonia during the Classical era, a land engagement against Sparta. It ended in defeat for the Greek side.

Historical Note

Brasidas the Spartan and Cleon the Athenian, the two architects of the war, both died in the same battle. Their deaths cleared the way for the Peace of Nicias.
