Greek Battles
Lade
The Battle of Lade was fought in 494 BC in Anatolia during the Classical era, a naval engagement against Persia. It ended in defeat for the Greek side.
Historical Note
Persian fleet crushed the Ionian Revolt at sea, ending the Ionian cities' bid for freedom. Miletus was destroyed shortly after — an event so mournful that an Athenian play about it was banned.
