Guan Yu was a Chinese general active in the 3rd c. AD during the Three Kingdoms period from the state of Shu. Was executed.
Historical Note
Liu Bei's sworn brother and bodyguard. Captured and beheaded by Sun Quan in 220 AD after a strategic blunder in Jingzhou. Later deified across China as the god of war and loyalty.
