Lake Trasimene

The Battle of Lake Trasimene was fought in 217 BC in Italia during the Republic era, a ambush engagement against Carthage. It ended in defeat for the Roman side.

Historical Note

Hannibal trapped Flaminius's army between hills and lake in dense fog. The largest ambush in classical warfare — 15,000 Romans killed in three hours.
