Edessa

The Battle of Edessa was fought in 260 AD in Mesopotamia during the Crisis era, a land engagement against Sassanid Persia. It ended in defeat for the Roman side.

Historical Note

Valerian was captured by the Persians. He spent the rest of his life as Shapur I's footstool, allegedly.
