Shoshenq I was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 10th c. BC during the Third Intermediate period from the state of 22nd Dynasty. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

Libyan general who founded the 22nd Dynasty. Marched into Canaan, sacked some 150 cities — Megiddo, Jerusalem, and the rest — and brought home the gold of Solomon's Temple, by the Bible's reckoning.
