Senusret I was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 20th c. BC during the Middle Kingdom period from the state of 12th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Built Egypt back to its old glory after his father's murder. Annexed Lower Nubia to the Second Cataract, built fortresses to hold it, and erected the first great obelisk at Heliopolis — still standing, oldest obelisk in place.
