Shapur I was a Sassanid king active in the 3rd c. AD during the Sasanian Empire period. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Captured Roman emperor Valerian alive at Edessa (260 AD) — the only Roman emperor ever taken prisoner. Carved his triumph into the cliffs at Naqsh-e Rustam.
